The distance-based toll system in Germany

Route-related tolls must be paid on German motorways for all goods traffic vehicles as of an admissible overall weight of 12 tons.

The easiest way for you: Choose UTA as you partner for the German toll system and enjoy the advantages of the quick, secure, and comfortable UTA service!

• After your registration, which is free of charge, the German toll-way operator Toll Collect gives you card for each vehicle – which contains all toll-relevant data.
• This will save you valuable time when manually logging on at the toll terminal. The vehicle data will not have to be entered individually for each booking.
• Registration is required for participation in the automatic toll booking system and for the manual booking via the internet. Even for the manual booking at the toll terminals registration is recommended.
• Registration does not make the installation of an On Board Unit (OBU) mandatory.
• Easy and comfortable invoicing with UTA or the MercedesService Card.

In the following section you will find the steps for the registration. An extra service, which UTA offers you is that you can fill out all registration forms on your computer. Simply fill out the forms, print and sign them, and send them back to us. Here you will find all forms that are necessary for the user registration and vehicle registration.

After receiving the registration documents we will send you a confirmation. You will receive the vehicle cards and the registration confirmation through Toll Collect.

You have already registered for a different payment method and now want to change to UTA as your invoicing partner for the new toll?
No problem! Here you will find the relevant form to change your method of payment. Simply complete the form on your screen, print it, add your stamp and signature and send it to our Head Office (address above). We will then forward the form to Toll Collect to ensure a prompt change as requested.

If your vehicle is exempt from the new truck tolls, you can register that status with Toll Collect.
If your fleet includes toll-exempt vehicles (e.g. state or emergency vehicles, or vehicles used exclusively for road maintenance and operation...), you can register this status with Toll Collect using a special form. This will avoid unnecessary stops, controls and assessment notices by BAG. You will find details and registration forms here. Please note that forms (to register toll-exempt vehicles) should be returned directly to Toll Collect at the address listed on the forms!
